IPL 2026 Auction: Rajasthan Royals Want Ravindra Jadeja And Dewald Brevis From CSK In Exchange For Sanju Samson As Former Champions Prepare Crazy Swap Deal

In an interesting turn of events, the Rajasthan Royals are reportedly working on a swap deal with the Chennai Super Kings. They are ready to trade Sanju Samson ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, but they want their legendary all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and young Dewald Brevis in exchange.

Jadeja, who has played in the first couple of seasons of IPL for Rajasthan Royals, has been associated with CSK since 2012 and was even retained by the five-time champions for Rs 18 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Brevis, on the other hand, joined CSK in IPL 2025 as a replacement for uncapped Indian pacer Gurjapneet Singh.

After joining CSK midway through the 2025 season, Brevis impressed with his batting performances, but despite that, the franchise had a disappointing campaign and finished at the bottom of the points table for the first time in IPL history.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, CSK and RR are 'seriously pursuing' the trade of Samson for Jadeja.

"Both Jadeja and Samson are Rs 18 crore players, and the deal could well have been sealed by now. However, it is understood that the Rajasthan Royals are not yet agreeable to a straight swap. The franchise is believed to be insisting on the inclusion of another player, which could eventually prove to be the sticking point," the report read.

"The deal-breaker over the CSK-RR deal, it is understood, is the latter’s demand for Dewald Brevis, who came into the CSK ranks midway last season. Since then, the South African went on to become one of the top batters in the global franchise circuit," the report added.

CSK are believed to be a bit reluctant to release another player in the potential deal apart from Jadeja, who was retained for the same amount of money RR paid to secure Samson’s services ahead of the mega auction last year.

Jadeja has been one of the most consistently performing all-rounders in IPL history. He has 3260 runs and 170 wickets under his belt in 254 IPL career matches, having played for Rajasthan Royals, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, CSK and Gujarat Lions. He is a four-time IPL winner, having lifted the trophy once with Rajasthan Royals in 2008 and thrice with CSK in 2018, 2021 and 2023.

Talking about Samson, a move to RR turned out to be a game-changer in his career, as consistent performances with the bat over the past few years opened the doors of the Indian team for him. He has been captaining the side over the past few seasons. The right-handed batter has 4704 runs to his name in 177 IPL career matches at an average of 30.94, hitting three centuries and 26 fifties.
