JE Sports Desk: The nation drowns in the celebration mode as one of the most popular faces of Indian cricket Mahendra Singh Dhoni turns 42 with fans across the globe wishing their hero in their own way.

On the occasion of Dhoni's birthday, a giant cut-out of the former Indian captain is garnering traction across social media. The massive picture, which is said to be around 52 feet tall, has been prepared by some Hyderabad-based Dhoni fans to celebrate the birthday of their idol on July 7.

The former Indian captain is regarded as one of the most successful captains in world cricket having led the Indian side to all three ICC trophies, T20 World Cup in 2007, ODI World Cup in 2011 and ICC Champions Trophy in 2013.

The right-handed batter is also known to be one of the fastest both behind the wickets and between the wickets as well having impressed everyone with his glovework and pace towards the end of his career as well.

Dhoni led his Indian Premier League (IPL) Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to the fifth title in the 2023 season, having already lifted the trophy four times before that as he equals Rohit Sharma's record of most IPL titles.

The IPL 2023 was believed to be Dhoni's last season before his retirement however he hinted to return next year as well, calling it a present to the people who came in massive numbers to cheer for him and his team in every part of the country.

"If you see circumstantially this is the best time for me to announce retirement," Dhoni said in the post-match presentation of the IPL 2023 final. "But the amount of love and affection I've been shown wherever I've been this year, the easy thing for me would be to say, 'Thank you very much'. But the tough thing for me is to work hard for another nine months and come back and play at least one more season of IPL. But a lot depends on the body, I have six-seven months to decide and it will be more like a gift from my side [to the fans]. It's not easy for me but the way they've shown their love and affection, that's something I need to do for them.

Let's see how the cricketing world celebrates the birthday of their beloved 'Thala'.
