India continued their winning run in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 as they defeated Bangladesh in the Match 17 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday, October 19.
The Men in Blue remained in second place in the standings despite clinching their fourth win in the tournament so far with eight points.
New Zealand continue to hold the top spot as they also have the eight points as well but have a better net run rate than the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team.
India have a net run rate of +1.659 while New Zealand have a better one at +1.923.

After the third defeat of the tournament, Bangladesh have slipped to the seventh position from their earlier position at number six.
They have an equal number of points (2) as the Netherlands, Australia, England, and Afghanistan, but their net run rate of -0.784 is inferior to all the other teams.
South Africa and Pakistan are the other two sides that complete the top four. Notably, only the top four teams at the World Cup 2023 points table at the end of the round-robin stage will qualify for the semifinals.
The star batter Virat Kohli smashed a match-winning century to help India clinch the victory by seven wickets with 8.2 overs to spare.
Kohli put up a remarkable show with the bat while chasing a challenging target of 257 with Shubman Gill also scoring a fifty while skipper Rohit Sharma contributed with 49 runs.
Earlier, Bangladesh after opting to bat first, posted a total of 256/8 in their 50 overs.
Despite a slow start, the openers stitched an 88-run stand for the first wicket with both Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das scoring respective fifties.

Mahmudullah played a valiant knock of 46 runs to take his team to a fighting total before getting dismissed in the last over.
For India, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets while Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav picked up a wicket each as well.
Both India and New Zealand will be up against each other as they will be aiming to extend their dominance a the top of the table with both teams being undefeated so far in the tournament.
