India vs Australia 2nd ODI: Rohit Sharma scripted history on the back of an impressive batting effort during the second ODI match between India and Australia at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday. Rohit has become India's third top run-getter in ODI history.
The senior batter headed into the match 46 runs short of the milestone, which he achieved by hitting Adam Zampa for a four on the fifth ball of the 21st over. Rohit has gone past Sourav Ganguly’s record of 11,221 runs for India in the 50-over format of the game.
Ganguly played 308 ODIs for India from 1992 to 2007 and amassed a total of 11,221 runs in 297 innings. On the other hand, the ongoing match is Rohit’s 275th ODI for India. Now only Sachin Tendulkar (18,426) and Virat Kohli (14,181) are ahead of him in the list of batters with the most runs for India.
