India captain Rohit Sharma has expressed his displeasure with broadcaster Star Sports for recording and airing the audio of his conversation with former Mumbai Indians teammate Dhawal Kulkarni and others ahead of a recent IPL match.

In the clip, Rohit was seen requesting the broadcaster's cameraman not to record the audio of their chat. Despite this request, the conversation was aired, which angered the former MI captain.

Responding to the incident two days after MI played their final league match of IPL 2024, Rohit stated that his privacy had been breached. He criticized the broadcaster for prioritizing exclusive content to boost views and engagements over respecting his privacy. Check out the post here:

“The lives of cricketers have become so intrusive that cameras are now recording every step and conversation we are having in privacy with our friends and colleagues, at training or on match days,” Rohit said in a post on social media.

“Despite asking Star Sports to not record my conversation, it was and was also then played on air, which is a breach of privacy. The need to get exclusive content and focused only on views and engagement will one day break the trust between the fans, cricketers and cricket,” he added.

“Let better sense prevail,” he concluded.

Earlier this month, a video clip of Rohit Sharma chatting with Kolkata Knight Riders coach Abhishek Nayar went viral on social media. The unclear context of the conversation led to widespread speculation among social media users.

The clip, initially shared by KKR on their social media platforms, was eventually taken down. This incident left Rohit irked and more cautious about his privacy.

Subsequently, as he was preparing for Mumbai Indians' final match of IPL 2024, Rohit requested a Star Sports cameraman not to record the audio of his chat with Dhawal Kulkarni and others.

“Bhai, audio band karo haan. Kasam se, ek audio ne mera waat laga diya! (Please don’t record the audio. One audio has already caused me a lot of trouble,” Rohit could be heard saying in the clip.
