Pakistan National Cricket Team News: Pakistan spin all-rounder Shadab Khan is likely to lead the national T20I side after he makes a return from the rehabilitation program next month as per a report. Notably, Shadab picked up a shoulder injury which forced him to undergo surgery in England. The report in PTI suggested that Shadab will take over the reigns of T20I captaincy from Agha.
Interestingly, Agha, who led Pakistan Team to final of the Asia Cup 2025, has not been at his best in the format. There were criticism on his strike-rate as well with opinions flowing around if his place in the T20I team is justified or not.
On the other hand, Shadab who has served Pakistan in 70 ODI and 112 T20 International appearances, last played in a home series against Bangladesh in early June before suffering a shoulder injury. Notably, the 27-year-old has led Pakistan in the past in this format and is a experienced campaigner in the country's flagship T20I league, Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Interestingly, Shadab, before his surgery, was the vice-captain in the format.
When Will Shadab Khan Return?
The report stated that Shadab is likely to return to action during the three-match series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh starting November 11 and will end on 15.
Since doubts exist over whether the PCB will be able to host the planned tri-series with Afghanistan and Sri Lanka from November 19, the source said it is certain that the national selectors will want to test Shadab in the Sri Lanka series.
"He is planning to also play a domestic four-day game in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy before the Sri Lanka series," a source was quoted as saying by PTI.
