Three minors have been apprehended for allegedly luring and sexually assaulting a nine-year-old child on a secluded rooftop, police said on Wednesday.

The incident came to light on November 4 when a relative of the child approached the police, alleging that the child had been sexually assaulted by three minors.

According to the complaint, in three minors one is 13-year-old and two are 16-year-old boys, lured the child to a secluded rooftop area and sexually assaulted them. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan said the accused "threatened the child with dire consequences if they disclosed the incident to anyone."

Police stated that a case has been registered under Section 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the POCSO Act.

Investigation And Action Taken

Based on information from the victim and with the help of informants, the police team identified the accused and apprehended them from the Bapa Nagar area.

Police stated that on the same day the case was registered, the three minors were taken into custody and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board for further legal proceedings.

"Further investigation is ongoing, and counselling has been arranged for the child with the help of child welfare authorities," the DCP added.
