The Crime Branch has nabbed two criminals in connection with a life-threatening attack on a liquor store owner in the Bharat Nagar police station area, who was assaulted with a baseball bat and a knife. The attack was carried out to "teach the owner a lesson" due to a personal grudge. Both the accused had been on the run since the incident and have a past criminal record.
DCP Harsh Indora stated that the arrested individuals have been identified as Devi Prasad and Daksh Kumar. Devi Prasad is originally from Gonda, UP, and was currently living in Azadpur Mandi, while Daksh Kumar is a resident of Kewal Park in Azadpur. Both were wanted in an attempted murder case registered at the Bharat Nagar police station.
On the afternoon of August 31, both men, along with their associates—Surjeet, Piyush, Ravi, Lalit, and others—made a plan to teach the liquor store owner a lesson. According to the plan, Ravi provided a baseball bat to Devi Prasad and a knife to Surjeet. Daksh stood guard outside the shop to monitor the area. After this, Devi Prasad and Surjeet went inside the shop and attacked the owner with the bat and knife, respectively. Following the assault, all of them fled from the scene.

On September 2nd, the Crime Branch received a secret tip that two of the criminals involved in the attack were coming to meet someone in Kewal Park, Adarsh Nagar. Based on this information, a team led by ACP Ashok Sharma and Inspector Ajay Sharma laid a trap and arrested both of them.
Initially, both tried to mislead the police by hiding their identities and denying any involvement in the attack. However, when the police questioned them sternly, they broke down and confessed to their crime. They revealed that they carried out the attack at the behest of their associates, Ravi and Lalit. The police are now searching for the other accused who are still on the run—Surjeet, Piyush, Ravi, and Lalit.
