The Delhi Secretariat is set to undergo a major overhaul of its Local Area Network (LAN) and Wi-Fi infrastructure, as the existing system, now over a decade old, frequently causes disruptions and affects workflow. Recognising the long-pending need for a complete technological upgrade, the Delhi government has initiated steps to modernise the network.

According to officials, the Public Works Department (PWD) has begun surveying the building to assess the current LAN and Wi-Fi setup and recommend required improvements.

The Information and Technology (IT) Department has also launched a project to replace and upgrade the entire system to meet present digital and operational demands.

Officials said the revamped infrastructure will offer a robust, high-speed and secure communication network to support e-governance services, cloud-based tools, video conferencing, and other high-bandwidth activities. The upgrade is expected to improve inter-departmental coordination and significantly enhance productivity across offices.
