Even before the onset of fog, many long-distance trains, especially those heading east, are running late by hours. Due to their late arrival in Delhi, the departure times of several trains have also had to be rescheduled.

The New Delhi-Darbhanga Humsafar Special (02570) will depart late by one and a quarter hours at 1:30 pm, and the Anand Vihar Terminal-Gorakhpur Puja Special (05592) will depart late by one and three-quarter hours at 11:45 am. Passengers pay higher fares for these "festival special" trains, yet attention is not being given to running them on time.

As a result, many festival special trains are running late. Several local trains are also reaching their destinations late, causing inconvenience to daily commuters. Railway officials state that ongoing safety work in different divisions has impacted the operations of several trains, causing them to reach their destinations late.
