Bengaluru Schools Closed Today: All educational institutions in Bengaluru will remain shut today, September 26 due to a 'bandh' organised by farmers' groups in Karnataka to protest against the release of water from the Cauvery River to Tamil Nadu.
The Bengaluru Urban District Collector, KA Dayanand, has declared a public holiday for all schools and colleges, while Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda has stated that Section 144 will be enforced in the city, prohibiting gatherings of more than five people.
According to the media reports, the bandh is expected to disrupt normal life in the city, leading to the closure of schools, colleges, government offices, banks, ATMs, public and private transportation services, as well as shops, commercial establishments, restaurants, and hotels.
However, essential services, including hospitals, nursing homes, pharmacies, emergency services, petrol stations, water supply, electricity, and sanitation services, are expected to continue their operations.
"Today addressing press, @CPBlr has reiterated that no bundh/protests/processions are allowed as per Supreme Court/High Court instructions. Section 144 enforced citywide - gatherings of more than 5 people not permitted. Dial 112 for any help. Additional police will be deployed for maintaining law and order," said Bengaluru City Police as quoted by news agency ANI.
