Schools Closed News: The state administration is considering the implementation of movement limitations for the public in Delhi during the G-20 summit scheduled on September 8, 2023, as per the officials. This measure aims to facilitate unhindered routes for the G-20 dignitaries by minimising road congestion. The Department of Education has asked the schools, instructing them to declare a holiday for both students and employees on September 8.
Ahead of the official main event, there is a possibility that G-20 participants will arrive earlier. The itinerary includes a program set to take place at Pragati Maidan, alongside a cultural event. The leaders' spouses will embark on their initial visits to the National Gallery for Modern Art and Pusa Road. According to officials, there are considerations to arrange guided tours for them across other notable city attractions.
The main event will be held on September 9-10, with an expected presence of 29 heads of state, along with prominent representatives from the European Union, invited guest countries, and 14 leaders of international organisations. Numerous hotels in the Delhi-NCR region have been designated to accommodate the attendees.
According to the media reports, enhanced security measures will be evident at locations such as Chandni Chowk, Khan Market, Dilli Haat, Connaught Place, and Malcha Marg Market. However, there has been no official advisory released as of now. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has undertaken dedicated initiatives to ensure the clearance of 26 major roadways within the city, starting from August 16 onwards. Among the prominently emphasized routes are Bhairon Marg, Mathura Road, Sachivalaya Road, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Lodhi Road, Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Marg, Purana Quila Road, and Suraj Kund Road. Traffic advisories for the G20 summit will be soon released by the Delhi Police.
