FMGE 2024 Exam: Amid the ongoing row over alleged ‘irregularities’ in the NEET-UG 2024 examination result, another medical exam, the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) 2024, is being held under close watch by security and Home Ministry officials. The Home Ministry officials said that the FMGE 2024 exam began smoothly on Saturday and no untoward incident was reported. 

Home Ministry officials told news agency PTI that the command centre to monitor the examination has been set up at the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) headquarters in Delhi.

“The content was successfully downloaded at all test centres. The examination started at all examination centres smoothly. A team of officers from MHA has visited NBEMS HQ. No untoward incident has been reported,"  an official told PTI. 

Notably, the FMGE is a screening test for medical graduates to become eligible to practice medicine across the country. The examination is reportedly being held at 71 centres in 50 cities across 21 states of the country. The examination will be held in two shifts- 9 am to 11.30 am and 2 pm to 4.30 pm.

According to the officials, a live CCTV stream is used to monitor each and every examination centre. A ground team of TCS officials is also attending to the operational and logistics issues at the test centres.

In another development, the National Eligibility and Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024 counselling was postponed on Saturday till further notice amid an ongoing row over alleged ‘irregularities’ in the medical entrance exam and paper leaks. The decision came despite the Supreme Court's refusal to postpone the NEET-UG counselling which was scheduled to begin today (July 6). 

The NEET-UG 2024 exam, which was conducted by NTA on May 5 across 4,750 centres for nearly 24 lakh students, faced the ire over allegations of paper leaks and questionable grace marks. The results were questioned as an unprecedented 67 students have attained a perfect score of 720.
