Following the widespread controversy surrounding irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024, the Centre has invited suggestions window on reforming the examination process conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Stakeholders can submit their suggestions by July 7. Various stakeholders, especially students and parents, can submit their views and ideas at innovateindia.mygov.in.
On June 22, 2024, the Government of India constituted a high-level committee chaired by Dr K Radhakrishnan, Former Chairman of ISRO and current Chairman of the Board of Governors at IIT Kanpur. The committee includes members from government entities, government organisations, academia, and higher educational institutions to make recommendations on the following aspects:
- Reforms in the mechanism of the examination process
- Improvement in data security protocols
- Structure and functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA)

The Ministry of Education has already established a high-level committee of experts to ensure transparent, smooth, and fair conduct of examinations.

This action is in response to reported incidents of alleged irregularities, cheating, impersonation, and malpractices during NEET UG 2024, held on May 5. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating the matter and has made several arrests so far.
In a recommendation to uphold transparency in the examination process, the Ministry of Education, Government of India, following a review, opted to refer the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a thorough investigation. Meanwhile, the Central government has enacted the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, aimed at curbing unfair practices in examinations.
