QS Global MBA & Business Master’s Rankings 2025: Fourteen full-time MBA programmes from India have secured a spot in the 2025 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) global rankings, released today, September 25. IIM Bangalore emerged as the top performer among Indian institutions, though it has slipped out of the global top 50. The IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Calcutta, and the Indian School of Business (ISB) have secured a spot in the top 100 list.

“India’s performance in the QS Global MBA and Business Master’s Rankings 2025 underscores the nation’s expanding influence in global business education. Indian institutions are increasingly nurturing leaders prepared to navigate today’s complex and dynamic business environments. The strong showing of IIM Bangalore, IIM Ahmedabad, and IIM Calcutta — particularly in employability and alumni impact — demonstrates India’s ability to shape top-tier global talent," said QS CEO Jessica Turner.

New Entrants In The Global Rankings

The list also includes three new entries this year. IIM Kozhikode makes its debut in the 151-200 band, while the Institute of Management Technology (IMT) Ghaziabad and Somaiya Vidyavihar University have secured spots in the 251+ band.

Indian Programmes Excel In Employability

Three Indian MBA programmes rank within the global top 50 for the employability indicator, with a fourth programme making it into the top 100 for this crucial measure. IIM Ahmedabad ranked as India’s number one management institution by NIRF, leads the nation in the Entrepreneurship & Alumni Impact category. Two other Indian MBA programmes also feature in the global top 100 for this category.

High ROI And Thought Leadership

IIM Bangalore boasts the highest return on investment (ROI) among Indian MBA programmes, with two others also making it to the world’s top 100. The institute’s full-time MBA programme is also recognised as the national leader in faculty thought leadership, while three additional Indian programmes appear among the global top 100 for this criterion.

Diversity Issues In Indian MBA Programmes

Despite the strong showing in other areas, none of the 14 Indian MBA programmes ranked within the global top 250 for student and faculty diversity. This highlights the significant gender imbalance in classrooms, particularly at top-tier institutions like IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Calcutta. Although efforts are being made to encourage female participation, the gap remains substantial.

The diversity indicator also evaluates the presence of international students and faculty, where Indian business schools continue to fall short. The report from QS emphasises the ongoing challenges in internationalisation within Indian business education.
