JoSAA Counselling 2025 Begins: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has announced the category-wise top 20 percentile cut-off marks for Class 12 students for the academic session 2025–26. These percentile-based cut-offs are crucial for candidates seeking admission to BTech programmes in prestigious institutions like IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.
For IIT admissions, candidates must either score 75% aggregate (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective board exams. The percentile benchmark differs for each education board. The top 20 percentile data for 2023, 2024, and 2025 has been made available on the official JoSAA website — josaa.nic.in.
JoSAA will be allocating seats across 127 institutes, including 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 26 IIITs, and 46 GFTIs. Round 1 counselling registration and choice filling started on June 3, 2025.
JoSAA Counselling 2025 Explained: Eligibility, Process, and Seat Allocation
To participate in JoSAA counselling, candidates must have qualified JEE Advanced (for IITs) or JEE Main (for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs). Eligible students must register online, fill their preferences, and undergo multiple rounds of seat allotment based on ranks, preferences, and category-specific eligibility.
Candidates are advised to check the cut-off percentile for their respective boards to confirm eligibility. Those from boards that have not declared top 20 percentile cut-offs must obtain a certificate from their board. If unavailable, CBSE cut-off values will be considered as default.
