From this year, the NCERT curriculum for class 7 will feature a chapter titled 'A Homage to our Brave Soldiers' dedicated to the National War Memorial.
According to the government release, the objective of this initiative, jointly undertaken by the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Education, is to inculcate the values of patriotism, devotion to duty, and courage and sacrifice among school children and increase the participation of youth in nation-building.
The chapter focuses on enlightening the history, importance, and essence of the National War Memorial (NWM). It highlights the supreme sacrifice made by the Bravehearts of the Armed Forces in the service of the nation post-independence.
"In the chapter, two friends exchange letters and share their feelings of gratitude for the freedom they enjoy due to the sacrifices made by the Bravehearts," said the release.

"Deep emotional impact and connect, which arises in minds and hearts of the children as they visit the iconic monument, have been brought out creatively by the authors of NCERT," it added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the National War Memorial (NWM) to the country on February 25, 2019, in New Delhi. It was made to make people proud of our country and understand the value of sacrifice. The NWM honors the brave soldiers who lost their lives while protecting our nation.
