School Holiday Tomorrow: Odisha, Telangana Districts Schools To Remain Shut Due To Cyclone Arnab Warning & Ganesh Immersion

School Holiday Update:  Amid Cyclone 'Arnab ' wind advisories and heavy rainfall alerts. In order to put student safety first, local governments in a number of susceptible areas announced breaks for elementary, secondary, and upper secondary schools, in addition to Anganwadi centers. Schools in Odisha will be closed in Malkangiri district on September 25, 2026. The Collector and District Magistrate issued the order in response to weather forecasts that indicated lightning, thunderstorms, heavy to extremely heavy rains, and strong winds.

IMD has warned of extremely heavy rainfall in parts of Odisha on September 24, followed by very heavy rain on September 25 and 26.

School Holiday In Odisha On September 25:

All schools and Anganwadi centres in Malkangiri are closed on September 25, 2026, due to heavy rainfall and a red alert from a deep depression near the coast. In Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Malkangiri: Under a heavy rain red alert was issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Teachers and other school staff have been instructed to report to their respective schools. Principals have also been directed to assign duties based on a roster to ensure that school buildings remain open round-the-clock and can be utilized if the need arises.

Many districts in Telangana are under high-alert alerts. Local district collectors are keeping an eye on waterlogging, and if there are issues with rains, they may declare local school holidays as a precaution.

On September 25, 2026, the Telangana government formally announced a state-sponsored holiday for all government buildings, educational institutions, and colleges. Due to the enormous Ganesh Idol Immersion (Ganesh Nimajjanam) procession, this holiday is observed in the urban areas of Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri.
