UPTET Result 2026: In a major setback, the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has issued its final decision on the representations received from candidates seeking changes in the UPTET Result 2026. As per the official notification, the Commission has rejected candidates’ representations regarding the OMR sheets, normalisation, and score calculations based on the answer key. The decision follows after several candidates raised concerns about the UPTET result 2026 declared on August 26, 2026. However, UPESSC has agreed to allow corrections in the specific entries of the eligibility certificates of the qualified candidates.
Four Types of Queries Were Examined
The Commission constituted a six-member high-level inquiry committee to examine the representations of the candidates seeking modifications in the UP TET result 2026. They categorized the representations into the following four categories:
1. Objections related to the entry of the roll number or question booklet number on the OMR sheet.
2. Reduction in marks after the normalization process.
3. Queries related to low marks calculated based on the answer key.
4. Requests to correct details such as parent's name, spouse, date of birth, and category or class mentioned on the eligibility certificate of the shortlisted candidates.
The Commission has dealt with each representation separately via its official announcement. Candidates are requested to read the notice carefully to understand which decision applies to their respective representation.
UPESSC Allows Online Correction In Eligibility Certificate
The Commission has agreed to allow corrections in the specific details of the eligibility certificates of the qualified candidates. It will soon open the official portal for candidates to apply for corrections related to their name, parents' name, date of birth, or class/category. The revised certificate will be issued after the correction process concludes.
Clarification On OMR-Related Requests
Rejecting candidates’ representation about the OMR sheets, the Commission argued that detailed instructions and precautions regarding filling the OMR Sheet were given before the examination through advertisement, admit card, and invigilators. The OMR sheets would not have been evaluated if the roll number or booklet number was incorrect or left blank. In such cases, candidates are responsible since the OMR sheets are fully automated. Based on these instructions and decisions of various courts regarding OMR evaluation, the Commission said it is impossible to grant any relief in this category.
Requests Rejected Regarding Normalization Process
Addressing candidates' second and third category of representations, the Commission clarified that the rules for the normalization have already been notified to ensure transparency across different shifts of exams. To calculate marks, a highly software-based scientific formula has been used to assess the difficulty level of question papers for different shifts. This process has been adopted by many major exam-conducting bodies and verified by courts.
Adding to this, the Commission said that as an outcome of this scientific process, candidates’ scores are bound to increase or decrease. Based on these facts, the Commission declined candidates’ demands for changes in marks or normalized scores.
