Teachers' Day 2024:On the occasion of Teachers' Day, President Droupadi Murmu will present the National Teachers Award 2024 to 82 educators from across the country. The ceremony, set to take place at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, will begin at 4:15 pm. Each awardee will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000, along with a silver medal and a certificate.

Each year, eligible and interested candidates submit applications for the National Teacher's Award. This prestigious award is open to faculty members from colleges, universities, higher educational institutions, and polytechnics across the country. The National Award to Teachers 2024 in Higher Educational Institutions aims to recognise the exceptional contributions of outstanding faculty members in India, celebrating their efforts in transforming students' lives and positively influencing the education system.

“Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu will confer the National Awards to the Teachers on 5th September 2024 at 4:15 PM onwards, in a function to be held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Each year, this prestigious award honours exceptional teachers who, through their dedication and hard work, have significantly enhanced the quality of education and enriched the lives of their students,” the Ministry of Education has said on microblogging site X.

The Department of School Education and Literacy has selected 50 school teachers for this year's National Teachers Award. The awardees represent 28 states, three union territories, and six organisations. Among them, 34 are male and 16 are female educators. The ministry also noted that two of the selected teachers are differently abled, while one works with Children With Special Needs (CWSN).

The ministry also stated that 16 teachers each have been selected for the prestigious award by the Department of Higher Education and the Ministry of Skill Development and Literacy. Further, 16 teachers from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Department of Higher Education will be honored as well.
