UP Education Recruitment 2026: The UP education sector aims to fill 1,00,000 government posts within six months. Following this, the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, Prayagraj, has released recruitment advertisements for over 17,000 posts, covering higher education, secondary education, and basic education departments. According to the commission chairman, Prashant Kumar, recruitment for 2,0447 posts in the Higher Education Department is currently ongoing. 111 posts for principals and 1,936 posts for assistant professors are covered under this. The written examination will be held on November 19 and 20, 2026.
11,508 Posts In Basic Education
The Basic Education Department has the highest number of vacancies among the announced recruitment posts in the education sector. A total of 11,508 positions for Assistant Primary Teachers (Urban) have been posted under the advertisement. Exams for these posts will tentatively be held on December 3 and 4, 2026. Exact exam dates will be confirmed later by the department. Moreover, apart from these recruitments, the Basic Education Department will also conduct a Special Teacher Eligibility Test (Special TET).
3,504 Recruitments In Secondary Education Department
The Secondary Education Department is set to fill a total of 3,504 vacancies with eligible candidates, following the government’s announcement. The posts will cover 897 assistant teachers and 2,607 lecturers (PGT). The proposed dates for the assistant teacher examination are December 3 and 4, 2026, while the lecturer examination may be held on December 15 and 16, 2026. Eligible candidates must visit the official portal for detailed notification of the respective examination.
2,047 Posts Announced In Higher Education
The Higher Education Department will also recruit eligible principals and assistant professors. According to Prashant Kumar, a total of 2,047 positions have been advertised. These include 111 principal positions and 1,936 assistant professor vacancies. The examinations will likely be held on November 19 and 20, 2026.
The 17,059 vacancies announced by the UP Education Sector account for approximately 17% of the government's target of 100,000 government positions, aiming to strengthen the state education system.
