KARNATAKA Election Result 2023: Afzalpur Assembly constituency is one of the 224 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Karnataka. It comes under the Kalaburagi district and is a segment of the Gulbarga Lok Sabha seat. As far as the Afzalpur constituency is concerned, Congress has its dominance as the party has secured three consecutive terms from this seat. This year, Afzalpur will see a close battle between Congress and BJP.

The election of the 224-member Legislative Assembly in Karnataka was held on May 10 in a single phase while the results was be declared on May 13. Over 3,000 candidates are in the fray for the May 10 Assembly polls in Karnataka.

Afzalpur Assembly Election 2023:

This year, the BJP fielded Malikayya Guttedar, the JD(S) chose Shivakumar Natekar, and Congress gave a ticket to M Y Patil. Currently, Patil represents the Afzalpur Assembly constituency and looking for another term in the upcoming Karnataka Assembly Election 2023. Guttedar, who also won the Afzalpur constituency in 2008 on a Congress ticket, will challenge Patil. It's interesting to note that in 2008, Guttedar ran for the Afzalpur assembly seat on the Congress ticket and defeated M Y Patil, who was running on the BJP banner.

Afzalpur Assembly Election 2018:

In the 2018 Assembly election, Congress candidate M Y Patil won the seat against BJP’s candidate Malikayya Guttedar with a margin of 10594 votes (7.14 per cent of total valid votes). Patil got 71,735 votes and Guttedar bagged 61,141 votes. While Raju Gouda Revoor, JD(S) candidate was the third runner-up who received 13,340 votes.

Out of 2,20,007 registered electors, a total of 1,49,812 voters turned which included general voters, NRI voters, and service voters in this assembly constituency in 2018. Among the general voters, 78,171 were male and 70,143 were female. According to the Election Commission of India, the constituency witnessed a 68.09 per cent voter turnout.
