Karnataka Election Result 2023: Madhugiri (Gen) is one among the 224 Assembly constituencies in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly located in the Tumkur district of the southern part of the state. It is a segment of the Tumkur Lok Sabha constituency.
This year, Karnataka Assembly Elections are marked by a head-to-head competition between the ruling BJP and the main opposition Congress. The BJP is banking heavily on the popularity of Prime Minister Modi and the double-engine government narrative. On the other hand, Congress has prioritised the issue of corruption in its election campaign.
Madhugiri Assembly Election 2023:
Madhugiri constituency in the Tumkur district of Karnataka state will witness a three-way contest between Veerabhadraiah from the Janata Dal (Secular), K.N. Rajanna from the Congress, and L C Nagaraj from the BJP in the upcoming Karnataka polls. The voting for the elections took place on May 10, and the results will be announced on May 13. In order to form the government in Karnataka, a party must win a minimum of 113 out of 224 seats.

Madhugiri constituency has a total of 190,297 registered voters, including general voters, NRI voters, and service voters. Of the general voters, 96,448 are male, 93,765 are female, and three belong to other genders. The sex' ratio of the electorate in the constituency is 97.14, and the estimated literacy rate is around 70 per cent.
Madhugiri Assembly Election 2018:
The JD(S) candidate M.V. Veerabhadraiah emerged victorious in the 2018 elections for the seat, defeating the Congress candidate Kyathasandra N.rajanna by a margin of 18574 votes. That year, this constituency had a voter turnout of 83 per cent.
The BJP candidate G.S. Basavaraj had emerged victorious in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Tumkur constituency, defeating the JD(S) candidate H.D. Devegowda by a margin of 13,339 votes.
In the 2013 Karnataka Assembly Elections, the Congress had emerged victorious in this constituency with a lead of 14,427 votes (9.79 per cent) by securing 50.97 per cent of the total votes cast. The voter turnout in 2013 was 80.72 per cent.
In the 2008 Assembly elections, this seat was won by JD(S), with a slim margin of 563 votes (0.46 per cent) and 42.01 per cent of the total votes polled.
