Lok Sabha Election 2024: Two FIRs have been filed after posters urging a boycott of the Lok Sabha elections were found at various locations on the Delhi University campus, police said. All seven Lok Sabha constituencies in the capital are set to vote on May 25. Meanwhile, on Thursday, two colleges affiliated with Delhi University received an anonymous call, threatening explosions, officials said. Upon investigation, the calls were found to be hoaxes.
According to the Delhi Fire Service, calls threatening explosions were received by Lady Shri Ram College and Sri Venkateswara College in the national capital. Later, the Delhi Police informed that the calls were bogus and there was no need to worry.
"Some calls were received threatening explosions in two DU colleges. However, these calls have now been determined as bogus. There is nothing to worry about," an officer with Delhi Police said.
On Thursday, three reputed hotels including The Oterra in Bengaluru also received a bomb threat mail. Earlier in the week, the Police Control Room in North Block, home to the Ministry of Home Affairs, received an email claiming a bomb had been planted.
Recently, several places including schools and hospitals, have been receiving similar bomb threat emails. On April 30, Delhi's Chacha Nehru Hospital was threatened, and over 150 schools received threats from a Russia-based email service on May 1.
Earlier, in April, the Delhi High Court sought a detailed status report from the AAP government on the hoax bomb threat to several private schools in the Capital.
