Akshay Kumar applauded the efforts of 22 agencies that have rescued 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi. The labourers were trapped for a staggering 17 days in a collapsed Himalayan tunnel. The emotional and dramatic scenes unfolded as these individuals emerged from the Silkyara-Barkot tunnel entrance, being carried on stretchers. The 400-hour rescue operation encountered numerous obstacles and faced delays, including a mechanical drill breakdown. However, the efforts persisted, culminating in the workers being pulled through an escape pipe, with a specialised rat-hole mining team manually drilling the final stretch.
