Andrew Garfield gained more recognation for playing Spider Man in the beloved superhero franchise including The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) and later in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). Recently, he hinted at his possible return as the web-slinging superhero in the much-awaited the fourth instalment. Garfield revealed that his return depends on a unique and unconventional story idea.
Andrew Garfield shared his views on Spider Man: Brand New Day at the Middle East Film & Comic Con via Entertainment Tonight, as quoted by Variety, the actor said, "It would have to be very weird. I would like to do something very strange. Something very unique, and offbeat and surprising, kind of like the creative freedom they have with the animated ‘Spider-Verse’ movies.”
Andrew Garfield previously played Peter Parker in Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man films (2012 and 2014). Although a third instalment was planned but never materialized, he reprised his role as Spider-Man in the 2021 film Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire.
In 2024, Garfield in an interview with Esquire magazine shared how he was “left dangling” after Sony didn’t proceed with a third part of his iteration of Spider-Man. He stated his coming back to No Way Home was like a healing for him.
In 2017, Tom Holland stepped into the role of Spider-Man with Spider-Man: Homecoming. However, the success of No Way Home, which secured USD 1.9 billion at the worldwide box office, showed that fans still have a strong affection for Andrew Garfield's portrayal of the web-slinging hero.

Holland’s next Spiderman instalment will start shooting this year. Earlier this month, Sony Pictures revealed the title of the highly anticipated fourth instalment, which is titled Spider Man: Brand New Day. The upcoming movie will take reference from the 2008 comic storyline which was notable for ending Peter Parker's marriage to Mary Jane after a reality-altering event, which bears a striking resemblance to the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home. In a similar vein, this new story might follow the comic's lead and transport Peter to an entirely different reality.
The much-awaited movie is scheduled to hit cinemas on July 31, 2026.
