BLACKPINK Lisa set the stage on fire at the 97th Academy Awards in Los Angeles with her bold James Bond tribute performance. The Thai rapper joined Margret Qualley, Doja Cat and Raye in a four-act routine, aiming to honour the legacy of the iconic spy franchise. While her performance received mixed reactions, one aspect that stood out was her stunning outfit designed by South Asian designer Rahul Mishra.

Lisa arrived at the Oscars red carpet wearing a Markgong ‘tuxedo’ dress, giving a feminine spin to classic suiting. However, it was her stage look that stole the show. She donned a breathtaking black ensemble from Rahul Mishra’s The Pale Blue Dot collection, first showcased at Paris Haute Couture Week in January 2025.

On Monday, Mishra took to Instagram to celebrate the moment, sharing pictures of Lisa in his Gaian Genesis black tonal leotard from his Spring Couture 2025 collection. He proudly described it as part of his The Pale Blue Dot line, highlighting the intricate craftsmanship behind the design.

While Lisa’s outfit was widely praised, her performance stirred controversy. Fans appreciated her confidence and stage presence, but some critics pointed out that she appeared to be lip-syncing. This sparked debates online, with some arguing that lip-syncing at an event like the Oscars diminishes an artist’s credibility.

One social media user expressed disappointment, saying, “The industry is all about having the right connections, but lip-syncing on top of it? Everyone else sang live. She will never be taken seriously.” Another critic added, “Lisa trying to break into the West with lip-sync performances and 2014 Wattpad cringe concepts is going to cost her popularity and career.” Lisa has yet to respond to the lip-sync allegations, but the discussion surrounding her performance continues.
