GOAT Box Office Collection Day 1: The film The Greatest of All Time, starring Thalapathy Vijay, has made a remarkable debut at the Indian box office. Notably, the highly anticipated film has set a new benchmark for Tamil cinema, earning an estimated Rs 55 crore on its opening day across India. This strong performance highlights Vijay's substantial fan following and the high anticipation leading up to the film's release. Directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by AGS Entertainment, GOAT features a star-studded cast, including Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Meenakshi Chaudhary, and Yogi Babu.
The movie’s blend of action, drama, and emotional depth appears to have struck a chord with viewers. Opening in over 4,000 theaters worldwide, the extensive release contributed significantly to its robust first-day box office numbers.

The Greatest of All Time earned approximately The film earned a gross of Rs 55 crore across India or a net of Rs 46 crore on its opening day, with early estimates breaking down to Rs 38.3 crore in Tamil, Rs 1.7 crore in Hindi, and Rs 3 crore in Telugu. The film saw a strong 76.23% overall Tamil occupancy on September 5, 2024, with specific showtimes showing high engagement: 69.74% in morning shows, 71.48% in afternoon, 78.36% in evening, and 85.33% in night shows. This makes GOAT the biggest Tamil opener to date, marking it as Vijay’s third film and the fifth from Kollywood to surpass the Rs 50 crore opening day milestone.
The Hindi occupancy was notably lower at 14.82%.
GOAT Budget
GOAT was produced with a total budget of Rs 400 crore, which includes promotional expenses, and an additional Rs 200 crore allocated for Vijay's salary.
About GOAT
In The Greatest of All Time (GOAT), Vijay portrays dual roles as M. S. Gandhi and Jeevan/Sanjay. Akhil plays the younger Jeevan, while Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, and Ajmal Ameer are cast as Gandhi's colleagues and friends Sunil, Kalyan, and Ajay, respectively. Mohan takes on the role of Chandra Menon, and Jayaram stars as Naseer. Sneha voices Gandhi's wife and Jeevan's mother, while Laila plays Sunil’s wife and a doctor.
The film is said to be inspired by the 2004 Moscow Metro Bombing. In addition to Vijay, the cast features Sneha, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, and Mohan in key roles. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the movie promises a compelling and engaging storyline.
