India is gearing up to host a 'Bharat Parv' at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, showcasing its rich tapestry of creative opportunities to a global audience. The event, scheduled for May 15, will bring together eminent dignitaries, filmmakers, and industry delegates to explore India's vibrant creative economy.
Organized by the National Film Development Corporation in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry, the 'Bharat Pavilion' at the festival's Village International Riviera will serve as a focal point for Indian cinema. The pavilion, designed by the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, is aptly named 'The Sutradhara,' echoing this year's theme of 'Create in India'.
The delegation, comprising representatives from central and state governments, will showcase India's creative prowess at the Marche du Films. The initiative aims to engage with film celebrities, filmmakers, producers, buyers, and sales agents, highlighting the diverse talent and opportunities in the Indian film industry.
A key highlight of the event will be the unveiling of the official poster and trailer of the 55th India International Film Festival, scheduled to be held in Goa from November 20 to 28. This will provide a sneak peek into one of India's most prestigious film festivals, attracting filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts from around the globe.
Indian cinema will be prominently featured at the Cannes Film Festival, with several noteworthy productions lined up for screening. Payal Kapadia's 'All We Imagine As Light' will compete for the coveted Palme d'Or, while Sandhya Suri's 'Santosh' will be showcased in the Un Certain Regard section. Additionally, 'Sunflowers Were the First Ones to Know', a short film by students from the Film and Television Institute of India, has been shortlisted in the La Cinef Competitive section.
