Kaatera directed by Tharun Sudhir is a Kannda-language film starring popular actor Darshan. It marks the debut of actor Aradhana Ram and has Jagapathi Babu as the antagonist. The movie which was released in theatres on December 29 got an overwhelming response by earning more than rupees one crore in its advance bookings. It is the last Kannada film of the year made on an approximate budget of Rs 45 crores. 

The movie is inspired by true events and takes place in the town of Hampi in Karnataka during the 1970s. Talking to ETimes before its release, the film’s producer Rockline Venkatesh said, “The film is about farmers, and it is based on true incidents from the 1970s. It delves into the time when former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi gave a new lease of life to farmers who were in distress”. 

The movie is getting mostly positive responses from the audiences on social media for its good content. A user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “Finished watching Kaatera, one of the best content-oriented movies. No one could stop content-oriented movies! Literally, My eyes filled with tears Watching vintage Dboss, Boss acting, dialogues and BGM (background music) is top notch and the entire movie is next level”.

Another user on X wrote, “Just Finished #Kaatera. Celebrities are awesome. Good 1st Half. Abv Avg 2nd Half. Highlights: Tribute to Arjuna, Kaati Entry, Dailouges, Pre interval with ‘benki kidi ondhu bgm’, Theme song, Fight Sequence #KaateraReview”.

Fans are encouraging the audience to go to the theatres to experience the movie. Users on social media are sharing videos of the audience celebrating the film in the theatres. A user wrote, “Post 12 PM afternoon 182+ shows are FF/SO in Bengaluru Positive word of mouth is increasing the sold out boards #BlockBusterKaatera#Kaatera#Dboss#KaateraReview#Kannada”.

Debutant Aradhana is getting praise for her performance in the film. A user on X wrote, "#Kaatera Second half could have been better nevertheless a decent commercial movie. A good one-time watch for sure. Superb debut for #AradhanaRam she has done a great job and no where it feels like it's her first movie. The second half starting fight was fantastically choreographed".

Kaatera’s music is composed by V. Harikrishna, while Sudhakar is responsible for the cinematography and editing. The production team includes S. Raj and K. M. Prakash. The film is expected to do good business post positive reviews by audiences.
