Kangana Ranaut, a Bollywood actress-turned-politician, has never shied away from voicing her opinions on social media. Known for her blunt and often controversial views, the National Award-winning actress recently shared her disappointment over a viral video featuring a glaring lack of general knowledge of Indian youth. The video in question showcased several youth failing to name the current President of India, Droupadi Murmu. Kangana's response in a scathing Instagram story, has since sparked a discussion online.

As originally posted by the Instagram account Gen Z Pulse in April, the street interview segment asked a group of young women the question, "Who is the President of India?" The responses ranged from the shocking to laughable. One girl replied, "I forgot his name"; assuming the President is male. Another young lady said, "Murunali or something"; struggling to remember, Droupadi Murmu! A third participant incorrectly guessed either Ram Nath Kovind (the former President of India) and another confidently, yet incorrectly guessed Jawaharlal Nehru, but claimed he was the first President of India (for the record, he was the first Prime Minister of India, not President).

The Bollywood star, Kangana Ranaut was quick to react to the video on her Instagram Stories. Posting a screenshot, she commented, "War won't kill us but grasshopper brain cell generation surely will." Her comment, laced with sarcasm, drew attention to what she perceives is falling levels of awareness and intelligence among the younger generation. She also appeared to reference recent tensions at the India-Pakistan border, comparing national threats to the perceived decline in general knowledge. Her post has created a range of reactions on social media and other platforms, with some people agreeing that this kind of ignorance is alarming while others criticized her for generalizing and ridiculing youth. Nonetheless, the incident once again highlighted Kangana’s consistent stance on issues of national pride, education, and cultural awareness.
