'Karungaapiyam' is a Tamil drama featuring Kajal Aggarwal, Regina Cassandra, Raiza Wilson, Yogi Babu, and Janani Iyer in lead roles. The film is helmed by D Karthikeyan, and the film has also received a U/A certificate via the Central Board of Film Certification.

The film will be released pan-India and is produced by Padarthi Padmaja. The official release date of the film was scheduled on April 7, however, the film will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video from July 10.

'Karungaapiyam' is touted to be a horror drama and is set around the backdrop of the lockdown. The film sees the character of Umayal Karthika, deciding to spend time at a 100-year-old unkempt library in a bid to divert and heal from a major heartbreak.

To cope with her emotional loss, she delves into the sea of books and picks up 'Karungaapiyam.' However, with her reading different chapters, her imagination takes a mysterious turn as her stories come to real life. The film's cinematography is done by Vignesh Vasu, whereas the editing is handled by Vijay Velukutty. The film was released in theaters on May 19.

Talking about the lead cast's work front, actress Kajal Aggarwal was last seen in 'Ghosty', directed by Kalyaan which created a negative impression at the box office and was considered a flop. She will next be seen in 'Bhagavanth Kesari' opposite Nandamuri Balakrishna. The actress also has 'Indian 2', 'Uma', and 'Satyabhama' in her kitty.

On the other hand, Regina Cassandra was 'Saakini Daakini' and will next be seen in 'Border' with Arjun Ajay. She also has 'Flashback' and 'Soorpanagai' in the pipeline.
