Aamir Khan recently announced his upcoming venture titled ‘Lahore 1947’ under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions. It boasts as one of the most prominent creative names of the century, whereas this project also marks his maiden collaboration with Sunny Deol. The film will be helmed by Rajkumar Santoshi and is the 17th production under Aamir Khan’s banner. The film also marks the reunion of Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Santoshi after their blockbuster film ‘Andaz Apna Apna.’

On Tuesday, October 3, Aamir Khan Productions shared a note on Instagram and announced this collaboration. The note stated, “I, and the entire team at AKP, are most excited and happy to announce our next, starring Sunny Deol, directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi, titled Lahore, 1947. We look forward to collaborating with the immensely talented Sunny, and one of my favorite directors Raj Santoshi. The journey we have embarked on promises to be most enriching. We seek your blessings. A.”

On the other hand, Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol have delivered three box office hits in the past including ‘Ghayal’, ‘Damini’, and ‘Ghatak.’ Given the notable track record of the same, and Sunny Deol’s recent craze after the box office record of ‘Gadar 2’, this new venture looks promising.

This is the first time the two leading actors of Bollywood are coming together, as the duo has witnessed several box office clashes in the past. In 1996, it was ‘Raja Hindustani’ vs ‘Ghatak’, and then in 2001, it was ‘Lagaan’ vs ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.’
