Lokesh Kanagaraj has opened up about Thalapathy Vijay’s decision to step into politics. While the duo has worked together in successful projects like Master (2021) and Leo (2024), the director recently expressed his desire to see Vijay continue acting on the silver screen, despite his foray into the political world.

During an interview with Sun News, Lokesh Kanagaraj shared his thoughts on the actor’s new journey. He said, “It’s my wish to see Vijay Anna act in cinema. But I am not big enough a person to say anything. It’s my wish, but his goal is towards politics. So I wish him well and want to send my good wishes.”

Earlier this year, in February, Vijay announced the launch of his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. The actor, who has been considering entering politics for a while, finally took the leap. During the announcement, Vijay emphasized the need for a fundamental change in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, one that aligns with constitutional values and promotes equality. He said, “The truth is everyone in Tamil Nadu is yearning for a fundamental political change, and that should be in line with the Indian Constitution and the egalitarian principle of pirapokkum ella uyirkum (all are born equal).”

With this decision, Vijay has stated that he plans to focus entirely on his political career. He also mentioned that he would only complete two more movies before dedicating himself fully to his political journey. His upcoming films include Thalapathy 69, which is expected to be his final movie before making a complete shift to politics.

Vijay's political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, will be contesting in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections. He aims to address issues such as corruption, administrative malpractices, and divisive politics that have plagued the state. His entry into politics has generated a buzz not just among his fans but also within the political sphere.

Meanwhile, Vijay's most recent release, The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT), has performed well at the box office. With Thalapathy 69 being his last film, it marks the end of an era for Vijay’s cinematic career, leaving his fans excited yet emotional. As Vijay transitions from movies to politics, his supporters are eagerly waiting to see the impact he will have on Tamil Nadu’s political scenario.
