Maharaja Box Office Collection Day 8 (China): Vijay Sethupathi's latest action-drama, Maharaja, directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, has made an extraordinary mark at the Chinese box office. The Tamil blockbuster has surpassed expectations, grossing a phenomenal ₹55.67 crores (¥47.66 million) in just nine days since its release on November 29, 2024. As per a report by Sacnilk, the movie has emerged as the highest-grossing Tamil film in China, adding another feather to its cap.

Maharaja had a stellar opening week, collecting ₹40.75 crores ($4.82 million) in seven days. The movie, which also stars Anurag Kashyap, Abhirami, and Mamta Mohandas in pivotal roles, garnered significant attention with a well-received premiere day collection of ₹5.40 crores ($0.64 million). The momentum continued through its opening weekend, which grossed ₹26.50 crores, a testament to its strong audience reception.

The weekdays saw consistent growth in collections, a rarity for most foreign films in the competitive Chinese market. Beginning with ₹3 crores ($0.35 million) on its first Monday, the movie sustained its performance, climbing to ₹3.90 crores ($0.46 million) by Thursday.

As per social media buzz, the film's second weekend is off to an impressive start, with Friday (Day 8) contributing ₹4.54 crores and Saturday (Day 9) surging to ₹9.94 crores (¥8.51 million). This brings the movie's total collection in China to ₹55.67 crores ($6.57 million), reaffirming its blockbuster status.

With an 8.6 rating on Douban, China's leading movie review platform, Maharaja has been praised as one of the highest-rated Indian films in recent years. Its engaging storyline, impactful performances and thrilling action sequences have resonated with audiences, cementing its place as a cinematic gem.

The success of Maharaja in China has significantly boosted its global box office figures. With a worldwide gross nearing ₹150 crores, the film has already crossed ₹81.83 crores in India and ₹65.05 crores in other overseas markets. Maharaja continues to shine as one of the biggest Tamil hits of the year and a career milestone for Vijay Sethupathi.
