Aamir Khan has made several films in his career, with Lagaan standing out as a masterpiece of Indian cinema. Its epic story is set in a drought-stricken village in colonial India, where the villagers are challenged to a cricket match against their ruthless British rulers. The wager is simple - if the villagers win, their crippling land taxes (lagaan) will be waived for three years; if they lose, they must pay triple. The movie’s talented cast members include Aamir Khan as the fearless Bhuvan, who leads the challenge, Gracy Singh as his love interest Gauri, and British actors Rachel Shelley and Paul Blackthorne, among others. Helmed by Ashutosh Gowariker, Lagaan still has a loyal fan following among audiences. Its iconic soundtrack by A.R. Rahman, compelling plot, and powerful themes have ensured its place as a cultural landmark and a source of inspiration for many.
Lagaan’s lead actor Aamir Khan was recently spotted at Komal Nahta’s popular podcast Game Changers: The Producer Series. During the rapid-fire round, Mr Perfectionist recalled his Lagaan days. On being asked about who he would love to see as Bhuvan if Lagaan was made in today’s time, Aamir Khan expressed, “Vicky Kaushal, I think he has that quality of Bhuvan – dignity, strength, inner strength, steadiness, and integrity. He reflects all of that very naturally. He is a great actor."

Aamir Khan’s selection of Vicky Kaushal is hardly a shock. He has consistently demonstrated his range, balancing commercially successful roles with acclaimed performances that have earned him a reputation as one of his generation's most dynamic and reliable stars. Aamir's praise only further validated his already remarkable career.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Aamir Khan was reportedly supposed to start shooting for Rajkumar Hirani’s next project, which is Dadasaheb Phalke’s biopic, next month. But due to the actor’s request to make changes in the script, Rajkumar Hirani has halted the work for now. On the other hand, Vicky Kaushal will next be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War alongside Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.
