Aamir Khan is getting ready for his much-awaited, Sitaare Zameen Par. The movie is expected to release in theatres on June 20th, 2025. What took everyone by surprise was how his on-screen mother referred to him as a 'tingu' in the movie's trailer. Speaking about this, the actor recently disclosed that early in his career, he was anxious about his height.
Aamir Khan recalled what Javed Akhtar said to him about humour when asked if he's grown more at ease accepting a joke at his own expense, particularly now that he's letting people call him 'tingu' in the movie. Speaking to Just Too Filmy, he said, "Actually, Javed saab once said something about humour that I really agree with. He said a good sense of humour is not just for fun and games, but it actually comes in handy when you're going through difficulties in life. So if you have a good sense of humour at that time, it's like a shock absorber. I think I’ve always had that ability, and it’s a very important part of the film."
Aamir Khan also noted that early in his career, he was concerned about his height. Because they were all quite tall, he brought up seasoned actors like Shatrughan Sinha, Vinod Khanna, and Amitabh Bachchan.
"At the beginning of my career, I was very afraid. Amit ji was number one, and he was over six feet tall. Vinod ji, Shatrughan Sinha, all were very tall. So I was nervous, thinking choti height ke actor ki kuch daal galegi ki nahi galegi. I was very concerned about that. But as it turned out, it was fine," he added.
