In an exclusive interview with The Daily Jagran, actor Sudev Nair, who is preparing for the release of his Malayalam web series Kammattam, addressed the long-standing debate around pay parity in the entertainment industry. Responding to Anu Ranjan of the Indian Television Academy’s remark that while television has made progress, films and OTT platforms still witness men being paid more, Sudev offered a different perspective. He stated that there had been instances where he had worked longer hours, given more days to a project and even performed dangerous stunts without doubles, only to be paid significantly less than his female co-star—even.

Sudev Nair said, "I do not believe pay parity exists because of gender alone. I can quote numerous instances where I have given more days, hours, and even done my own stunts, risking life and limb and yet been paid a fraction of what the leading actress of the same film was paid, despite me being one of the primary characters."

"As I have grown in my career and my influence over the audience has increased, my pay has increased accordingly, and that's how it should be. Any actor can command a pay comparative to the revenue they bring in, regardless of gender. rephrase in indirect speech, make introduction paragraph," he further added.

Kammattam is making history as Zee5's first Malayalam web series. Expressing confidence over the project, Nair said, "We are confident in the show that we have made. How the audience accepts it is something nobody can predict anyway. But this will definitely encourage ZEE5 to invest in more content in Malayalam because they know the talent and professionalism is there." Zee5 is premiering Kammattam on September 5, presenting it as a special Onam gift for Malayalis across the globe.
