Ananya Panday’s cousin Ahaan Panday is gearing up for his Bollywood debut opposite Aneet Padda in Mohit Suri’s upcoming movie Saiyaara. The film’s trailer had sent a huge wave of excitement among netizens as the users loved the duo’s natural chemistry. While it now appears that Ahaan Panday is perfect for the role, interestingly, his audition was not enough for him to land a role in Mohit Suri’s movie. The director recently shared how he saw a different side of the debutant actor after they had drunk a couple of drinks.
Mohit Suri recently appeared on Cyrus Broacha’s podcast and shared an interesting story behind Ahaan’s casting. He said, “I auditioned a lot of people for Saiyaara. Honestly, I didn’t really care much about Ahaan’s audition. There was something about the guy, though. I thought, ‘Let’s go out for dinner.’ So, he takes me to this formal place and he’s really behaving himself…I get him a couple of drinks down, and then he’s taken me to some place in South Bombay with all these kids. And then I see the real Ahaan Panday. He’s standing on the bar, dancing. And I’m like, ‘This is the guy I want for my film.’ That’s the audition that got him selected."

Mohit Suri further talked about the casting process in general and shared that it's not always about how you give your shot or your talent; sometimes it's about what the director is looking for that day.
Apart from the trending trailer, Saiyaara also made headlines for other reasons. As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, the filmmaker was asked to cut ‘objectionable’ words and replace them with ‘appropriate’ words four times. A 10-second segment of ‘Sensual, Intimacy, Body Exposure Visuals’ has also been cut.
Backed by Yash Raj Films and helmed by the Aashiqui 2 director, Saiyaara is all set to hit the theatres on July 18, 2025. Despite featuring fresh faces, Saiyaara is anticipated to be a blockbuster movie. With advance bookings crossing Rs 4 crore, Saiyaara is projected to open in double digits.
