Main Hoon Na is undoubtedly Shah Rukh Khan's most cherished collaboration with filmmaker Farah Khan. For the unversed, the 2004 movie was Farah Khan's directorial debut. It was beleived that the two were having trouble finding a second lead until settling on Zayed Khan, who played Shah Rukh's brother Lucky or Laxman in the movie. The actor has now talked about his impromptu casting process for Main Hoon Na. 

Zayed Khan stated in an interview with Siddharth Kannan on his podcast that he was not even aware he was in the running for the part and that being cast for the movie was an unexpected occurrence. He disclosed that he wasn't the first choice to play Shah Rukh Khan's stepbrother in the hit movie. "So the role was initially offered to Hrithik Roshan, then it went to Sohail Khan, and then finally it was given to Abhishek Bachchan. But somehow things didn’t work out with any of these actor," he shared.

Zayed Khan went on to say that he once called Farah to ask for her assistance with choreography for a song he was filming. Farah told him to come to her office before he could finish speaking. "Farah Khan came into the office, and I asked her whether she was going to help me with the song. She instantly told me to 'shut up' and said that Shah Rukh wanted to talk to me," he revealed.

Shah Rukh Khan said, "Don’t listen to what she is saying; we have called you over because we are considering you for a role."

Post his impromptu audition, Farah left the office without a word, and Zayed, who was utterly confused by this. "Before driving off, she looked at me from inside her car and said, 'Send me your measurements, you are in my movie,' and I remember being so excited that I hugged a tree," he quipped.
