Popular Bengali Television and film actress Ditipriya Roy has made some serious allegations against her co-star Jeetu Kamal from her current show Chirodini Tumi Je Amar. The actress alleged that Kamal has been sending her inappropriate messages late night including their AI-generated kissing photo. Not only that she also mentioned that once he even asked her if she was pregnant. Roy has issued a long statement in Bengali on Instagram, accusing her co-star of harassment.
The actress’s statement read, “Over the past few days, there has been a lot of speculation about me, and I chose to remain silent. Because I believe that 'Ignorance is bliss'. First, it all started with a controversy over a photo. The production team always provides us with a few pictures to post on social media. My co-actor posted one of those photos. Among them, there was one that I personally did not like at all. He eventually deleted that photo. Later, in multiple interviews, he repeatedly said, ‘The photo I posted received many bad and vulgar comments, and she (I) was very hurt by it.’ But the truth is, I never even spoke to him about it!”
It continued, “I had only informed the production team because the photo was taken by them, and I felt it was inappropriate from my perspective. I never said anything about receiving vulgar or obscene comments, and at that time, no one raised any objection about me finding the photo inappropriate. Instead, later on, I kept hearing things like, "She can’t handle things spontaneously. It was just a photo—why such a fuss?" He also said, "I have a lot of respect and affection for Ditipriya. Her dedication is on another level." I want to believe that my co-actor truly respects and cares for me.”
“From the very first month, my co-actor stopped talking to me directly and only communicated via WhatsApp. When I asked him why, he said, 'I’m scared of your mother, but I have immense respect for you'. Such is the affection and respect he has that one day he asked me, 'Are you attending that event?' I replied, 'No, I have a doctor’s appointment.' He then asked, 'Why, are you pregnant?' In another incident, he sent me an AI-generated image late at night, which showed us kissing, and wrote, 'Good, send this to your boyfriend.' He added, 'You’ll break up with him tonight itself.' On another occasion, he messaged me saying, 'I need to talk to you, make sure your mom doesn’t find out. I’m scared of her',” he added.
She further added, “While I initially brushed off these incidents as jokes, over time they made me extremely uncomfortable. Some issues on the set also started bothering me. Almost everyone on our shooting floor knows about these events.”
“I stayed silent because my family taught me not to ruin work by creating drama. I didn’t want our wonderfully running show to be disrupted. But now, I can’t stay silent any longer. When some people keep tolerating things quietly, others tend to cross limits. I have never compromised with injustice, and I never will.” it read.
The actress stated that her other co-stars have faced similar issues with Jeetu. The production house is yet to comment on this matter.
Ditipriya Roy is a 22 year old actress who has worked in movies and shows like Rani Rashmoni, Aay Khuku Aay, Dakghor, Rajneeti and Bodhon, to name a few.
