After Kalki 2898 AD became one of the blockbuster films of 2024, the audience is looking forward to watching the sequel to it. Ahead of the release, director Ashwini Kumar alreadt shared that there will be a second part of the sci-fi action movie. Unlike Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan, who will be reprising their roles, Deepika Padukone will not be part of the sequel. The makers have officially announced the exit of the actress and stated that the movie deserves commitment and much more. They also mentioned that it was taken under a careful consideration, Kalki 2898 AD makers and Padukone decided to part ways.

Kalki 2898 AD makers, Vyjayanthi Movies tweeted, “This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, We have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works.”

The 2024 movie Kalki 2898 AD featured a stellar cast of actors including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur, Vijay Deverakonda, Shobana and Anna Ben in key roles. The sci-fi action movie was headlined by Prabhas. The movie is set in a dystopian future in the year 2898 AD, when the world goes through several crisis, like water, healthy air and more. It was linked with science and mythology, where some good people were trying to save SUM-80's unborn child, who is believed to be Kalki. It shows the mission of a group of people, who goes to extreme miles to save the pregnant woman with Lord Vishnu's 10 avatar, Kalki from evil supreme god Yaskin.

Kalki 2898 AD released in theatres on June 27, 2024. The film was one of the biggest films, which made on a budget of around Rs 600 crore. Released in multiple south languages and Hindi, Kalki 2898 AD earned Rs 646.31 crore in India while the worldwide collection stands at Rs 1042.25 crore. 

Coming back to Deepika Padukone, she was last seen in Singham Again. Despite being multi-starrer and featured big stars lile Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor and others, the movie could not perform as per expecrations. 

 

After Singham Again, Deepika was in talks with Sandeep Reddy Vanga's upcoming project Spirit. But the filmmaker reportedly decided to part ways with the actress due to her 8 hour shift demand, high pay cheque and more reasons. After their ugly professional split, Vanga also indirectly alleged that the actress had leaked the script of the movie. The allegations came after, he replaced Deepika with Tripti Dimri in spirit as the lead actress, opposite Prabhas.

After this incident, several filmmakers and actors came in support of Deepika's demand of 8 hour shift a day while some also criticsed it. But it seems things are not going in favour of Deepika Padukone at the moment on her work front.
