Aryan Khan's directorial debut The Ba***ds of Bollywood has dominated headlines with its sharp, satirical take on the Hindi film industry. The portrayal of richly developed characters, each with their own unique story and personality, has worked in favour of the show. However, no character has generated more online conversation than the ruthless producer Freddy Sodawala. Played by Manish Chaudhari, this character has become the show's focal point, with fans dissecting every detail to determine his real-life inspiration. Netizens have been largely divided, with many speculating that he is either Sajid Nadiadwala or Aditya Chopra.
Freddy Sodawala’s appearance soon started an online debate as several social media users argued that Aryan Khan had taken a playful jibe at the Bollywood producer Sajid Nadiadwala due to the similarity in the surname. But many people argued that Freddy’s appearance was rather related to Aditya Chopra. Hints like the mention of ‘3 movie deal’ and the iconic photo behind Freddy, which resembled Yash Chopra, were the key factors that prompted people to believe that Freddy is actually Aditya Chopra.

Active social media users expressed their opinions online. One person said, “Didn't notice it back then, but in this shot, the photo of 'Cyrus Sodawala' on the wall behind Freddy is eerily similar to Yash Chopra!” A netizen wrote, “Yeah, as a smokescreen – the obnoxious, ruthless producer’s name is Ba***ds of Bollywood is kept as Sodawala for most people to think that it’s roasting Sajid. But there are enough Easter eggs to suggest it’s actually Adi Chopra who Aryan is roasting." Another person added, “As soon as he was introduced, my mind went that’s YRF and their 3 movie deal." Someone else mentioned, “Maybe he’s a mashup of various production house head honchos."
Interestingly, the show featured a biting parody of several controversial events from Bollywood. The first example could be of Sameer Wankhede, the former NCB officer involved in Aryan's 2021 arrest. Another reference highlighted by the director was Karan Johar's guest appearance, where he ironically embraced the "movie mafia" label, famously bestowed upon him by Kangana Ranaut. Further adding to the inside jokes, Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar shared a witty exchange referencing their movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. These targeted scenes are some of the highlights of the show.
