Harshvardhan Rane's latest movie, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat showcases his sculpted biceps, brooding eyes, and amazing on-screen charisma that left millions in awe after his 2016 hit Sanam Teri Kasam. As he celebrates the box office success of the romantic drama, starring Sonam Bajwa, the actor finally responded to the insider vs. outsider controversy in an exclusive interview with The Daily Jagran. Harshvardhan Rane also discussed the pressure of the box office he faced for this specific movie, helmed by Milap Zaveri.
Harshvardhan Rane talked about the controversy that surrounded his comments about being a 'outsider' in the film industry and how Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat did well in spite of it. According to the actor, the debate surround 'fancy word' nepotism is not heading anywhere.
Harshvardhan Rane said, "So, I don't think there is this whole debate. It's a very useless debate. I always tell people to stop using these fancy words. It’s an excuse. And even if it was a word, there are two outsiders on this Diwali. Two films came and you bought tickets for both of them. Tomorrow, on Monday, both of them, that 200 crore film and our 25 crore film, both have the same collection. Which means that both your films are getting equal love. And so, where is that debate heading? I don't find facts in it. I find it more like an excuse that I left dieting because I went to a wedding. I ate ladoos because Diwali came. It is an excuse."

According to Harshvardhan Rane, nepotism is more of a excuse for people. The word, he claimed, is used as an escape by those who wish to work in the field but are unwilling to put in the effort.
"Nepotism, etc. These are excuses that we all make. I have learnt about this mostly in pandemic. When we were coming out of pandemic, I started noticing that everyone's posts are getting as much likes as mine. Then I saw that everyone's movies are running as much as mine. Then I saw some actors whose movie collection was also getting the same amount. So, I thought that this is an equal playing field. Pandemic taught me a lot and it taught me to sanitize my thoughts also. Like I used to clean my hands with sanitizer. I started sanitizing my thoughts. Whenever I used to get a thought, I used to clean it quickly. Just like we don't touch iron in pandemic, I stopped touching this debate. Let's stay away from this virus called, you know, this thing called. It makes the word so fancy. Because it is a great excuse. Like, what to do? I can't work because of this. You are not telling that you are not working hard. You are not a working hard. Right." he continued.

The actor revealed that he works every year with small releases on OTT. "People haven't seen those films. But, I have done. You like it or don't like them, but I have done. So, I don't think there is this whole debate. It's a very useless debate. I always tell people to stop."
Why Harshvardhan Was Feeling 'Extra' Pressure For This Movie?
With Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, Harshvardhan Rane disclosed that this is the first time a producer has decided to skip selling the film's rights to any digital platform prior to its theatrical debut.
Harshvardan Rane said, "Apart from what I have been sharing in all my other interviews, I would like to share, this was the first time I was under pressure. I'll tell you why. Before this, all my films that I was starting were sold on OTT. Before the release. This is the first time a producer has taken the punt and said, No, I will first release it and then I'll see. So, this is the first time I felt, God, please. You know, please. Because, otherwise, usually people become safe."
About Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat
Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat centers on Adaa, a free-spirited lady who views love as liberation rather than possession, and Vikramaditya, a dedicated artist who falls profoundly in love with her. Although their relationship begins as an all-consuming infatuation, Vikramaditya's worries eventually take over and his adoration quickly becomes obsessive. Their love story becomes a frightening investigation of desire, ego, and the thin line separating devotion from crazy as tragedy and treachery ensue. The film explores how the intensity of love can both create and destroy, set against a backdrop of music, memories, and heartache.
