Anurag Kashyap and Manoj Bajpayee have maintained one of Bollywood's most enduring filmmaker-actor relationships throughout the decades. The duo had an incredible career, from their early days in the Hindi film industry to creating a cult classic like Gangs Of Wasseypur together. They initially worked together on the ground-breaking Satya (1998), which was written by Anurag Kashyap and directed by Ram Gopal Varma. It later became one of the biggest cult favourites in the Hindi film industry. Later, they reunited for Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), a web series that not only tranformed Anurag Kashyap's career but also solidified Manoj Bajpayee's status in Bollywood.

Anurag Kashyap opened up on having an honest person like Manoj Bajpayee in the film industry in an exclusive interview with The Daily Jagran. The filmmaker remarked, "Bohot honestly baat karte hai," adding that the actor has never sugarcoated his views. He said, "Haan, hum log ek dusre se bohot honestly baat karte hai. Manoj (Bajpayee), mujhe kabhi khush karne ke liye kabhi yeh nahi bolenge ki 'haan yeh bohot badiya hai' ya jhooth nahi bolenge."

Anurag Kashyap also recalled how Manoj Bajpayee helps him with casting. He disclosed that the Jugnuma actor was the one who suggested Jaideep Ahlawat to him for a role. "At the same time woh mujhe bohot help karte hai casting mein, jab mein actors dhund raha hota hoon. Woh kyuki lagatar kaam karte rehte hai, hum mil nahi paate itna. Woh lagatar kaam kar rahe hote hai aur humesha naye actors ke saath kaam karte hai aur jab bhi exciting actor ke saath kaam karte hai toh mujhe bolte hai - 'Yeh naya actor mene dekha hai, kaafi batate hai.' Jaideep Ahlawat ke saath kaam kiya tha Chittagong (2012) mein, unhe hi tha ki 'Jaideep bohot kamaal ke actor hai, usse bhi lo tum, yeh correct hai iss role ke liye.' Toh yeh sab Manoj hi lekar aaye hai mere kiye, itte saare ache ache actors."
