Karisma Kapoor’s daughter told the Delhi High Court on Friday that the two months of her US university fees were not paid from her late father Sunjay Kapur’s estate. After her argument, the court asked the involved parties not to be ‘melodramatic’. The case is about the Industrialists’ Rs 30,000 crore estate in court. Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani is representing Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan. In the court, he argued that two months of fees for the US university have not been released by the late industrialist’s third wife, Priya Kapur, after the petition was filed.

Jethmalani called it a reflection of how the estate is currently operated and an indicator of the broader consistencies around Sunjay Kapur’s will. On the other hand, senior advocate Rajiv Nayar, representing Priya Kapur, stated that the claim is fabricated and useless. He also said Priya has maintained consistency in to look and the fees have already been paid. The lawyer further alleged that the purpose of raising the issue is to make headlines. A Bench of Justice Jyoti Singh stated that the issue should not come to the court. He said, “I don't want to spend more than 30 seconds on this. This question should not come to my court again. I don't want this hearing to be melodramatic. I put this onus on you (Shyel Trehan).”

The centre of the case is Samairaa and Kiaan’s allegations that Priya Kapur forged their father’s will and related emails, which appeared from metadata and device logs to have occurred on October 3, 2025 and March 24, 2025, casting doubt on the timeline. Jethmalani also pointed out that the last modified timestamp on the will reflects March 17, 2025. It does not match the respondent's account. The lawyer questioned why the will initially carried no executor and why Sunjay allegedly planned to include Vivek Singh, CEO of Sona Comstar, as executor.

Mahesh Jethmalani also highlighted the errors such as misspellings of Sunjay’s name and allegations that signatures were taken on blank sheets. Earlier, the High Court asked Priya Kapur to give a list of his assets to the court. Kapur then informed the court that Karisma’s children have already received Rs 1,900 crore from the family trust.
