Amid growing chatter on social media about a possible expansion of the Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi universe, particularly with speculation around a new spinoff focusing on characters from the younger generation, Smriti Irani has stepped in to clear the air. Addressing the rumours, the actor-turned-politician firmly denied any involvement in such a project, stating that she is currently not associated with any new television ventures.
The report read, "The series will focus on the characters Vrinda and Angad, played by Tanisha Mehta and Rohit Suchanti. Their storyline will branch out from the parent show, offering viewers a deeper look into their journey… Production work is underway, with additional cast members joining as the show moves closer to its premiere."
Reacting to the buzz, Smriti Irani wrote in the comments section, "May want to check PR content with authorities that have IP rights. I am not associated with any other show except Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. No spin-off program is authorised for my engagement legally, which entitles use of my image and/or personality. Do check so that viewers are not misinformed," she further added.

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was one of Indian television’s most iconic shows, airing on Star Plus from 2000 to 2008. Its immense popularity even influenced viewers’ daily routines, while Smriti Irani’s portrayal of Tulsi Virani became the benchmark for the ideal Indian daughter-in-law. The show returned with a reboot last year, bringing back Amar Upadhyay as Mihir alongside Irani.
Created once again by Ektaa Kapoor, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 features returning actors like Ketki Dave, Kamalika Guha Thakurta, Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan and Shakti Anand. The new generation cast includes Rohit Suchanti, Aman Gandhi, Shagun Sharma and Tanisha Mehta.
