'My Relationship With Media Is Fantastic...With Paparazzi Is Zero': Jaya Bachchan's Bold Statement Goes Viral

Jaya Bachchan's strained relationship with the paparazzi is not new to the public. She has often made headlines for criticising their intrusive behaviour. Recently, during a conversation at the 'We The Women’ event, the veteran actress opened up about her relationship with the media, calling it fantastic, but stated her relationship with the paparazzi is ‘zero,' clearly drawing a line between media and paparazzi. She slammed them and questioned their conduct and credibility, asking, 'Who are these people and what kind of education and background do they come from.' Jaya admitted that she has tremendous respect for the media and journalists, but dislikes the paparazzi’s behaviour.

Jaya Bachchan On Her Relationship With Paparazzi

During a chat with Barkha Dutt at the We The Women event, the veteran actor and politician made shocking statements that have gone viral on social media, once again sparking a debate. In the video, Jaya can be heard saying, "You know it’s very strange. My relationship with media is fantastic. I am the product of media. But my relationship with paparazzi is zero. Who are these people? Are they trained to be representing the people of this country? You call them media? I come from media. My father was a journalist. I have tremendous respect for such people."

She further criticised the appearance and behaviour of paparazzi, citing their attire and informal approach towards celebrities. The actress stated, "But ye jo bahar drain pipe tight gande gande pehen pehen kar, haath me mobile le ke. (But the guys outside wearing tight, dirty clothes and carrying a mobile phone in their hand). They think just because they have a mobile, they think they can take your picture and say what they want and the kind of comments they pass. What kind of people are these people? Kahan se aate hain, kis tarah ka education hai? Kya background hai? They will represent us? Just because they can get through to YouTube or whatever social platform?"

She revealed that she is not on any social media platform, but is aware that she is the most heated person. Jaya added, "One of my staff in Delhi said, “You know ma’am I don’t watch any social network or anything because you are the most hated person on social network. I said I don’t give a damn. I don’t care. You hate me? It’s your opinion. You are entitled. My opinion is, I dislike you immensely because you think you can be like a chuha (rat), get into somebody’s house with a mobile camera."

Jaya didn't stop there; she went on to question celebrities who call paparazzi to the airport just to get photographed. She stated, “I don’t know them. I don’t know whoever you are talking about. My grandson (Agastya Bachchan) is also young, but he is not on any social network. If you have to call people to take your photos at the airport, what kind of celebrity are you?."
