Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 Postponed Indefinitely? Inside The Rs 28 Crore Court Battle

Akhanda 2, a Telugu movie starring Nandamuri Balakrishna that was supposed to open in theaters on December 5, has been postponed indefinitely. The movie's financier, 14 Reels Plus LLP, announced on Thursday that 'unavoidable circumstances' were the reason for the postponed release. But on the eve of Akhanda 2's premiere, Eros International Media Limited declared that the Madras High Court had issued an injunction preventing the release of the film starring Nandamuri Balakrishna.

Eros, however, claimed that it filed the appeal in relation to its long-standing arbitral ruling against 14 Reels Entertainment Private Limited, under which Eros is the beneficiary of a money decree worth about Rs 28 crore. As per Hindustan Times, Eros asked the Court for immediate interim remedies to guarantee that this award would be effectively enforced.

According to Ero, Akhanda 2 release is 'an indirect attempt to flout the arbitral award and avoid compliance with legally determined financial obligations.' The court ordered that Akhanda 2 not be released in theaters, on internet platforms, or via satellite broadcast until 14 Reels Entertainment has paid all outstanding debts.

Akhanda 2: Thaandavam had already generated a great deal of excitement among fans, particularly after obtaining a U/A certificate from the Censor Board, indicating a successful release.

Directed by Boyapati Srinu, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam is a follow-up to the 2021 smash Akhanda. The movie stars Samyuktha, Aadhi Pinishetty, and Harshaali Malhotra in addition to Nandamuri Balakrishna. Fans reacted favourably to Thaman S's soundtrack for the movie. The revised release date has not yet been disclosed by the makers.

The expectations were extremely high for the Boyapati Sreenu and Balakrishna duo to recreate the enchantment on screens as the follow-up to one of the most acclaimed mass blockbusters in modern Telugu cinema.
