Not Dharmendra Or Jeetendra, Hema Malini’s Mother Wanted THIS Actor To Be Her Daughter’s Husband

Hema Malini, often known as the 'Dream Girl' of Bollywood, enthralled people with her beauty. Even though she was in a several high-porfile relationships, one of them lasted the test of time, society, and family and eventually resulted in a long-lasting marriage. The seasoned actor and politician married her co-star from Sholay in 1980. Their journey from lovers to husband and wife wasn't an easy ride, particularly because Dharmendra was already married to Prakash Kaur at the time and had four children - Sunny, Bobby, Ajeeta and Vijeeta.

Hema Malini and Dharmendra's love story was widely known, but he wasn't her her family first choice for obvious reasons. Prior to him, Jeetendra was also thought to be a possible match, while the Seeta Aur Geeta actor was apparently in a committed relationship with Sanjeev Kumar. Hema Malini's mother Jaya Chakravarthy reportedly had another actor in mind to be her son-in-law, despite huge number of suitors for her.

Hema Malini and Sanjeev Kumar were so in love that they even intended to get married and start a family. But when Hema was asked to quit her job by his family, the argument began to grow and their relationship failed the test of time. Meanwhile, Hema and Dharmendra got closer when they began working together. However, Yamla Pagla Deewana actor's marriage to Prakash Kaur was a big obstacle to their committed future. Additionally, Hema's parents were against her getting married to a man who was already married and had kids.

Who Was Hema Malini’s Mother’s FIRST Choice?

Girish Karnad, whose work as an actor, film director, Kannada writer, and playwright also impressed Hema Malini's mother, according to Mayapuri's 250th issue. She encouraged them to collaborate on the 1979 movie Ratnadeep because she wanted her daughter to marry him.

However, in the end, love triumphed, and despite numerous obstacles, Hema Malini and Dharmendra stayed together. They reportedly were married in 1979 in compliance with Islamic customs. The couple had two daughters after being married - Esha in 1981 and Ahana in 1985. The duo were unbreakable until his passing earlier this week on November 24 at the age of 89.
